Director: Dr. Vitaliy Makar

Dr. Vitaliy Makar was appointed founding Director of the Ramon Hnatyshyn Canadian Studies Centre in 2005. Dr. Makar’s research interests include Ukrainian Diaspora studies and Canada-Ukraine inter-state relations. He has published widely in these areas. In addition to his duties as director of the Canadian Studies Centre, Dr. Makar lectures as an associate professor in the Department of History, Political Science and International Relations at Chernivtsi National University.

Aside from Dr. Makar and Mrs. Balytska, there are numerous faculty members within the Department of History, Political Science and International Relations with research interests that include the study of Canada. These are: V. Fisanov, A. Horuk, V. Karpo, P. Katerynchuk, T. Lupul, O. Kozachuk, Y. Makar, I. Makuch-Federkova, I. Melnychuk, I. Patarak., and Y. Yuriychuk.
